Is it safe to travel to Somaliland & Djibouti?

How does the booking process work?
Our spot is secured as soon as we receive your deposit of $600, which is refundable up to 7 days after booking. For full details, please check our Terms & Conditions.
How do I get a visa?
Djibouti: visa on arrival at the airport β€” an invitation letter is required, which we will provide. Somaliland: airlines flying to Hargeisa currently require passengers to hold a Somalia e-Visa at check-in. Without it, boarding may be denied. We will provide the Somaliland invitation letter so you can receive a Somaliland visa on arrival as well.
What is the minimum/maximum group size?
This trip has a guaranteed departure and runs regardless of numbers. Maximum 12 people plus crew for each tour.
How do I fly to Hargeisa and out of Djibouti City?
Hargeisa is accessible via Addis Ababa, Dubai, or Jeddah with Ethiopian Airlines and regional carriers. Flying out of Djibouti City is easy with connections to Addis Ababa, Dubai, and Nairobi β€” from there you can connect onward to Europe, the Middle East, or beyond.
What flight should I book from Hargeisa to Djibouti City?
On Day 4 we take a short direct flight from Hargeisa to Djibouti City as a group. Our "Pack Your Bag" document will provide clear guidance on exactly which flight to book.
Do I need to bring cash?
Yes β€” bring USD or EUR. There will be no ATMs available, so bring enough cash for the trip. You can exchange for local currency on arrival.
Can I travel as a female?
You are always welcome to travel with us as a woman β€” you'll be in safe hands with our best local crew and a professional Crazy Puffin leader.
Can I come as a solo traveller?
Absolutely β€” you'll be paired with another like-minded solo traveller to share a room, or pay the $300 single supplement for your own hotel room throughout the trip.
