Liberia was founded by freed American slaves in 1822 β€” making it one of Africa's oldest republics. And Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown, was named because it was literally a place for freed people to start again.

Got questions?
FAQ
Are Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia safe?
Your safety is our top priority. This itinerary has been carefully designed to avoid high-risk routes and sensitive areas, based on continuous local monitoring and extensive on-the-ground experience. You will be travelling with a professional local team and an experienced Crazy Puffin leader, allowing you to explore West Africa with confidence and peace of mind.
Is this trip for me?
If you are an adventurous traveller, absolutely! However, we want our travellers to be fully aware that they will be visiting one of the least-developed regions in the world. Flexibility, patience, and a sense of adventure are essential. While the trip itself is not particularly rough, the nature of the destination means you should be prepared for unexpected situations β€” muddy roads, vehicle breakdowns, limited food options in some areas, power outages, and other logistical challenges. These experiences are all part of the adventure and often become the most memorable moments of the journey.
How is the accommodation throughout the trip?
We will stay in the cleanest and most comfortable accommodation available in each destination. In rural areas, we always select the best possible options. However, please keep in mind that tourism infrastructure in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia is limited. Manage expectations accordingly β€” and embrace the adventure.
Can I stay in a single room?
The tour price includes accommodation in a twin room. If you are travelling solo, you will share a room with another like-minded traveller from the group. If you prefer a private room, a single supplement applies β€” contact us for the current rate.
How do I get a visa?
We will arrange all three visas for you β€” Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. You do not need to do anything except send us a copy of your passport. Upon arrival, you will simply receive entry stamps. Visa fees can be paid together with the remaining balance of your tour.
Do I need to visit an embassy?
No. We take care of the entire visa process on your behalf.
Do I need any vaccinations?
Yes. A valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (Yellow Card) is mandatory for entry into all three countries. Please consult your doctor or travel health clinic well before departure for additional recommended vaccinations.
Which nationalities can join?
We welcome travellers of all nationalities, including U.S. citizens. Please note that at present, Russian passport holders are not permitted to enter Liberia.
What flights should I book?
The tour begins at Conakry International Airport (CKY) in Guinea and ends in Monrovia, Liberia (ROB or MLW). Detailed flight recommendations will be provided in our Pack Your Bag document. Common airlines serving the region include Royal Air Maroc, ASKY Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Air France.
How many people will join the tour?
To ensure a personal and authentic experience, we limit our tours to a maximum of 12 participants. This tour is guaranteed to depart regardless of group size.
What should I pack?
We'll send you our Pack Your Bag document several months before departure. It covers everything β€” recommended flights, what to bring, money, health, logistics, and any other important details for your trip.
