Libya is home to Leptis Magna, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world! Often called the "Rome of Africa," this UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts stunning ancient architecture, including a grand amphitheater, vibrant mosaics, and majestic arches.

Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrival in Tripoli-Tripoli city tour

We will fly from Tunis to Tripoli. We will land at around 11:00 a.m. and will be  transferred to the hotel for a short break. We will start  exploration the bustling souks of old Medina. Visit the Tripoli iconic monument , arch of Marcus Aurelius. Visit Libya national museum at the red castle.

Day 2:

Leptis Magna- Tripoli

In the morning, we drive to Leptis Magna, one of the world's greatest ancient sites, once second only to Rome during the reign of the Libyan Emperor Septimius Severus. Buried for over 1,000 years, the city was uncovered during major excavations by the Italians in the 1920s. After exploring its remarkable ruins, we will return to Tripoli in the evening.

Day 3:

Gaser Alhaj- Kabaw-Ghadames

As we journey south of Tripoli, the scenery changes dramatically with the towering wall of hard rock, Jebel Nafusa, one of Libya's most iconic landmarks. Our first stop will be the 12th-century fortified granary of Qasr al-Haj. From there, we proceed to Tarmeisa, a deserted ancient stone village perched on a narrow rocky outcrop. As we descend the mountain and continue south into the Sahara, we arrive at Ghadames, one of the oldest towns in the Libyan Desert.

Day 4:

Ghadames

We explore the old town of Ghadames, where the echoes of history resonate through its narrow alleys. Its distinctive architecture has earned the town recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During our walk, we'll visit a traditional house to gain insight into the local lifestyle and cultural heritage. Later, we'll witness a breathtaking sunset over the Algerian mountains.

Day 5:

Nalut- Tripoli

Today, we will stop at Nalut, a historic town perched on the edge of the Jebel Nafusa mountains. Known for its scenic views and rich Berber heritage, Nalut is home to one of the best-preserved fortified granaries, or qasrs, in Libya. We'll explore the ancient Qasr Nalut, with its honeycomb-like structure of storage chambers, offering a glimpse into traditional Berber life.  After our visit, we will continue our journey, arriving in Tripoli by evening.

Day 6:

Sabratha-Departure

On our final day, we head towards the ancient city of Sabratha, one of Libya’s most impressive archaeological sites. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Sabratha was a thriving Roman city known for its magnificent theater, stunning mosaics, and well-preserved temples. After our visit, we will transfer to the Tripoli airport for our flight back to Tunis, marking the end of our unforgettable Libyan journey.

It is safe now for travelers to come to Libya. We do keep a close eye on the situation and will act immediately if there will be any uncertainty. Libya is safer now for travelers than it has been in over a decade.

How do I get visa?

With Libya opening its doors to the world, eVisa opportunities are now available for most nationalities, including US passport holders.

At Crazy Puffin, we will fully support you during the eVisa application process, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free journey.

​We don't know when this opportunity will come again, so make the most of this special time!

What is the minimum/maximum number of participants on this trip?

We do have a guarantee of departure for this trip. 
And we take a maximum of 10 people + crew for each tour.

How do I fly to and from Tripoli?

Due to the limited availability of flights, we will all fly together from Tunis to Tripoli with either Libyan Wings or Tunis Air. The return journey from Tripoli to Tunis will also be as a group. We will inform you of the exact flights you need to book to ensure a smooth and coordinated travel experience.

Do I need to bring cash?

Yes, bring EUR. There will be no ATMs available so bring enough cash for the trip. You can exchange your cash for local currency in Tripoli.

Can I travel there as a female?

Can I come as a solo traveler

That’s absolutely not a problem! You will be paired with another like-minded solo traveler and share the room with him/her. Or you can get a single supplement for an additional fee. With single supplement you will get your own hotel room.
