Kurdistan spans parts of four countries: Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria. The largest portion is in Turkey, while Iraqi Kurdistan has gained semi-autonomous status with its own government.
Iraq is considered to be the Cradle of Civilization – Iraq is home to ancient Mesopotamia, where writing, the wheel, and the first cities were born.
