Itinerary
Day 1:
Antananarivo
Meet and greet at Antananarivo international airport and then transfer to your hotel in Antananarivo city. Meet the rest of the team and have free time to explore the city or relax after a long flight.
Day 2: Antananarivo/Antsirabe
Discover the famous RN7 through the typical landscape of the High land such as: rice fields in terraces, brick houses with thatched roofs. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and then visit the handcraft workshops by tuk-tuk; Antsirabe Avenue and the oldest 3 stars hotel in Madagascar. After the visit, transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3: Antsirabe/Miandrivazo
After breakfast, depart to Miandrivazo, passing by Betafo, Mandoto, and other Malagasy typical villages. You notice the different landscapes between the highland and the west. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel.
Day 4:
Miandrivazo/Tsiribihina river
After breakfast, shuttle to Masiakampy and then embark to your private canoe to enjoy the first day on the Tsiribihina River,
discovering beautiful scenery, birds, and wildlife. Picnic lunch will be served on the riverbank or in the canoe. We are going to enter the gorge and reach the campsite Anosin'Ampela
Day 5:
Tsiribihina river trip
Take a fresh bath in the waterfall; spot the lemurs before breakfast. Embark to your canoe and then reach a small local village and walk around to meet local people; discover this old colonial city. After the visit, embark on your canoe and depart to reach the campsite; along the river; you are going to discover the beautiful landscape; people, and some endemic birds.
Day 6:
Tsiribihina /Bekopaka
After breakfast, you will enjoy the final day on the river. Traveling through the second gorge, you will see some baobab trees and meet local people. Disembark in Antserarake and meet our 4WDS then depart for Tsimafana. Ferry to Belo sur Tsiribihina and then have lunch in the local restaurant. Depart with the convoy to reach the Manambolo River and then cross it by ferry to be able to reach Bekopaka.
Day 7:
Bekopaka
Canoe trip along the Manambolo Gorge and visit stalactites decorated cave. Continuing to visit the small Tsingy, There are some good chances to spot the Deckens Sifaka and red-fronted brown lemurs. After the visit, depart to discover the Big Tsingy. This is probably the most rewarding half-day trip within the park as it goes deep into the limestone forest passing through several hanging bridges with the impressive karstic formations below your feet. You may spot many different lemurs on the way.
Day 8:
Bekopaka/Kirindy
After breakfast, depart directly with the convoy at +/- 8h30am to reach Belo sur Tsiribihina on the same road. Have lunch and then cross the Tsiribihina river by ferry. Continuation to the Kirindy reserve and check in at your lodge. Nocturnal walk to spot the 6 nocturnal lemurs’ species and other nocturnal animals before dinner.
Day 9:
Kirindy/Morondava
Visit the Kirindy reserve. Dominated by majestic baobab trees and a forest canopy of even 14m altitude, this protected area of approximately 100 square kilometers is the only place where
the world's smallest known primate, the giant jumping rat, occurs. You will spot the common brown lemurs and the Verreaux's sifakas. Several bats, tenrecs, and mongooses. 40 birds, 50 reptiles, and 15 amphibian species are also found in this magnificent forest. After the visit, pass by Baobabs Avenue and then reach Morondava.
Day 10:
Betania / Baobab Avenure
Sunrise at the Baobabs Avenue and then we drive back to your hotel for breakfast. Depart by canoe to reach Betania village. Upon arrival, you will disembark and then walk along the sandy beach; reach the village, and meet local people to know more about their daily life and culture. Back in Morondava and then visit the local market and relax.
Day 11:
Morondava/Tana
Early breakfast; to Tana via Mahabo, Malaimbandy, Miandrivazo, Mandoto, Betafo, Antsirabe and then Antananarivo. Transfer to your hotel upon arrival.
Day 12:
Antananarivo
After breakfast, depart for Ambohimanga Kings Palace which is the cradle of the Merina dynasty, the Mecca of the Merina Kingdom and the starting point for the unification of Imerina. There's a lot to admire in this place. From the entrance of the village, the old stone gate-shaped disc in the chamber, the royal box of Andrianampoinimerina, the summer palace of the queens, the Horse Park and sacred ponds. After the visit; transfer to the airport for your international flight.

What if I am a solo traveler and book a shared room?
That’s absolutely not a problem! You will be paired with another like-minded solo traveler and share the room with him/her.
We try our best to pair travelers of the same gender but in the odd case you might have to share a room with a traveler of the opposite sex or in rare cases share a triple room

How does the booking process work?
Your spot will be secured as soon as we receive your deposit payment. This deposit is refundable up to 10 days after your booking but after that, we can not refund you the deposit. You will receive an invoice for the balance payment 9 weeks before the trip starts.

What if I want to arrive a bit earlier or leave later than the set trip dates?
If your time allows, you might want to enjoy a few more days in the country. If you want some activity recommendations, feel free to drop us a message. We’ll be happy to help. We can also assist you in booking your extra hotel nights if you need.

What is the minimum/maximum number of participants?
We do have a guarantee of departure for this trip.
And we take a maximum of 12 people + crew for each tour.

What about visa?
For most nationalities, you can get your visa on arrival at the airport. The cost is around 50USD.

How is the river canoe trip?
We will travel down the Tsiribihina River on a local canoe. Your luggage will be stored on the canoe so please bring a backpack on this journey instead of a suitcase. We will also have our guide, cook and rowers on the canoe

What should I bring for this trip?
The essentials for this trip are light but covering clothes, sun protection (hat, sunblock, glasses, scarf), swimwear and towel, cash to pay for food and souvenirs, and a small backpack for the daily excursions.

How much cash should I bring on this trip?
It is not easy to find reliable ATMs in Madagascar. We recommend bringing enough cash to pay for your food (lunches and dinners), to buy some souvenirs, or to give as tips to the local team. The equivalent of 300 USD should be plenty enough (unless you plan to buy some more expensive souvenirs).
