Itinerary
Day 1:
Ouagadougou → Bazoulé → Tiébélé
We fly to Ouagadougou and Adventure begins with a drive from Ouagadougou to Bazoulé, home to a sacred lake inhabited by hundreds of crocodiles living peacefully alongside villagers. Continue toward Tiébélé, famous for its elaborately painted Kassena royal compound (UNESCO site).
In the afternoon, explore the beautifully decorated earthen homes and learn about Kassena symbolism and traditions. Enjoy a mural painting demonstration by local women, followed by a traditional bonfire evening with Djongo dance.

Day 2:
Tiébélé → Gaoua
Travel through Gourounsi and Lobi territories, stopping in a traditional Lobi village to discover their distinctive architecture and social organization. Experience live balafon music and ceremonial dances before continuing to Gaoua.
Visit the Museum of Civilizations to gain insight into the region’s ethnic heritage.

Day 3:
Gaoua → Loropeni → Banfora → Sindou → Bobo-Dioulasso
Head to the Ruins of Loropeni (UNESCO World Heritage Site)—an ancient stone fortress linked to historic trans-Saharan gold trade routes.
Continue toward Banfora, known for its striking landscapes. Explore the Sindou Peaks and Fabedougou Domes, then relax at the refreshing Karfiguéla Waterfalls.
Arrive in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso’s cultural capital. Visit the famous mud-brick mosque and enjoy an evening of traditional music and dance.

Day 4:
Bobo-Dioulasso → Sikasso (Mali)
Cross the border into Mali and continue to Sikasso. Visit the Missiri Koro caves and nearby villages to learn about local customs and daily life, followed by a visit to the Senoufo Museum for deeper cultural context.
Overnight: Sikasso
Day 5:
Sikasso → Soulouba → Bamako
Drive toward Mali’s capital with a stop in Soulouba village, where you’ll witness an unforgettable Dogon Mask Dance, a sacred performance expressing ancestral beliefs.
Arrive in Bamako for a brief city tour highlighting markets and riverside life.
Overnight: Bamako
Day 6:
Bamako → Segoukoro → Dougouba → Segou
Explore Segoukoro, former capital of the Bambara Kingdom, including historic buildings and royal tombs. Continue to artisan villages where traditional blacksmithing and gourd crafting are still practiced.
Visit Dougouba, home to one of Mali’s oldest clay mosques, before reaching Segou, beautifully set along the Niger River. Optional sunset pirogue ride.

Day 7:
Segou → Siby
Travel to Siby, known for its Mandingo landscapes and sacred rock formations. Explore the Arch of Kamadjan, consultation caves, and surrounding cliffs. If conditions allow, observe traditional rituals honoring Mandingan spiritual beliefs.

Day 7:
Siby → Bamako → Departure
Return to Bamako for final sightseeing, including the Grand Market and key landmarks, before transfer to the airport for departure.

This journey is designed for adventurous travelers who are comfortable with basic accommodations in rural areas, long driving days, and off-the-beaten-path destinations.

What flight I should book?
You’ll fly into Ouagadougou (OUA) to start the trip and depart from Bamako (BKO) at the end. Both cities are well connected via major hubs such as Istanbul, Dakar, Accra, or Abidjan.

Do I need to bring cash?
ATMs and card payments are not available in Burkina & Mali.
You’ll only need a few hundred dollars for emergencies and personal expenses, as everything else is included.
